The time zone input for SunAngle should be set to indicate how many hours your local time zone differs from Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), which is the time zone through the zero degree line of longitude in Greenwich (a district of London, UK). There is typically one hour of time zone variance per 15 degrees of longitude, with locations West of Greenwich being behind GMT, and locations East of Greenwich being ahead of GMT. Time zones are a little tricky, so please pay careful attention to this input. Note that most locations West of Greenwich (such as North America) should have a West longitude value and a time zone of GMT minus some number of hours. Locations East of Greenwich (such as Asia) should have an East longitude and and a time zone of GMT plus some number of hours. Please note that the time zone input assumes that you're not including daylight savings time when you indicate your time difference from GMT. For example: the author lives in Seattle, Washington, USA, where the time difference from GMT is -8 hours. When daylight savings time is in effect, however, the time difference is actually -7 hours. But for the purposes of the SunAngle inputs it would be correct to indicate the time zone as GMT-8 and set the daylight savings input to "Yes" during the summer. Here is a map of the world with time zones for each country. Here is a list of countries with their standard time offset from GMT: Afghanistan: +4.5 hours |
